The idea of an International Marxist-Feminist Conference was originally brought into being by the feminist section of the Berliner Institut of Critical Theory (InkriT) around the German sociologist and philosopher Frigga Haug.
A first Marxist-Feminist International was held in Berlin (Germany) in 2015 and, for the closing plenary session Frigga Haug elaborated a first document encompassing twelve theses, summarising the thinking and contributions presented and discussed in the Conference. In the following congress, held in Vienna (Austria) in 2016, these theses were again discussed and modified and expanded in preparation of the 3rd International Marxist-Feminist Conference, held in Lund (Sweden) in 2018.
The XIII Marxist-Feminist Theses aim at serving as a discussion basis and working tool for the subsequent conferences held in the Basque Country in 2021and Warsaw (Poland) in 2023, as well as for the forthcoming VI International Marxist-Feminist Conference, to be held in Portugal in November 2025.
