Tithi Bhattacharya

Tithi Bhattacharya (India, 1971) is a professor of South Asian History and the Director of Global Studies at Purdue University (USA). She received her Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies (UK) in 2000. She is the author of The Sentinels of Culture: Class, Education, and the Colonial Intellectual in Bengal and a long time activist for Palestinian rights and Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS).

Bhattacharya is a longstanding social justice activist,  she is active in her local community as well as in struggles nationally and internationally. A prominent Marxist feminist, she is one of the national organizers of the International Women’s Strike on March 8, 2017. She writes extensively on Marxist theory, gender, and the politics of Islamophobia. She is on the editorial board of the International Socialist Review and Studies on Asia.
